Dear PSA Director,

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), would appreciate your station or network’s participation in airing its “Talk. They Hear You.”  (TTHY) underage drinking prevention PSAs.

The TTHY PSAs are available on an EVERGREEN basis and promote key prevention messages. They illustrate concerns and questions parents/caregivers have about underage drinking and how to talk with their kids about it. The PSAs also model how parents can have a meaningful and effective conversation with their parents/caregivers when they have honest and open conversations.

SAMHSA is asking for your support by airing these PSAs to educate the public about prevention efforts and to reduce the occurrence of underage drinking. The PSAs end with a call-to-action to visit www.underagedrinking.samhsa.gov, which features skill-building tools, knowledge-increasing resources, and behavior-modeling scenarios for parents, caregivers, and communities to help prevent underage drinking.

Campaign Goals:

  • Increase parent and caregiver awareness of the prevalence and risk of underage drinking;
  • Equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge ,skills and confidence to prevent underage drinking; and
  • Increase parent and caregiver actions to prevent underage drinking.

Distribution:

The PSAs are available in 30- and 60-second spots, and either with a SAMHSA-branded call-to-action or an open open-ended version that may feature your station’s/network’s web address, Facebook page, or YouTube channel.
