Dear PSA Director,

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), recently produced two Recovery PSAs aimed at promoting the message that prevention works, treatment is effective, and recovery is possible.

The PSAs are Available on an EVERGREEN basis and promote the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental and/or substance use disorders. These PSAs celebrate people in recovery, laud the contributions of treatment and service providers, and build awareness for the message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

SAMHSA is asking for your support by airing these PSAs to educate the public about recovery efforts and to alter public attitudes surrounding mental and/or substance use disorders and their impact on affected family members. The PSAs end with a call-to-action to visit www.samhsa/treatment to learn more.

Campaign Mission:

  • Educate listeners on the SAMHSA Recovery message.
  • Provide a website for more information and resources at www.samhsa.gov/treatment.

Distribution:

The PSAs are available in 15-, 20- or 30- second spots, in both English and Spanish, and either with a SAMHSA-branded call to action or an open-ended version that may feature your station’s/network’s logo, web address, Facebook page, or YouTube channel.

Stations interested in scheduling an interview with a SAMHSA spokesperson, please contact SAMHSA at recoverymonth@samhsa.hhs.gov or 240.276.2750 to schedule.
